The fact that 25% of accidents with commercial vehicles are due to poor cargo securing, led the European Commission to update the legislation regarding the technical inspection of these vehicles with Directive 2014/47 / EU (in Portugal, DL n'144/2017, in force since 1-Jan-2018) incorporating rules for cargo securing for the first time, defining clear objectives and rules to achieve them.
One of these standards states that manufacturers of palletized loads must measure the stability / rigidity of their palletisations.
